What a great idea – and of course, it came from one of my favorite sources – the Advanced Style ladies. In this case, 96 year-old Lucy Jarvis. Unfortunately there wasn’t an accompanying picture of her – I’d love to see her interpretation of ‘retread’ because I expect she’s amazing. (Instead I’ll use the photo that Ari, the owner of the Advanced Style blog, used of this lovely lady he photographed in New York.)
It’s all about adapting and being inspired to change (‘retread’, if you will) as we move through the seasons of our life so that we can be the best possible version of ourselves. It’s definitely not about giving up…or sticking to old patterns and habits when they no longer serve us well, such as:
-dressing in a long-gone decade?
-dressing conservatively now because you got in the habit when you worked in the corporate world, even though you and your lifestyle have changed?
-dressing in sweatpants everyday because it’s just ‘easier’?
-wearing clothes that don’t fit – either too big or too little – because you aren’t accepting the size you are now and aren’t dressing to fit that body?…etc…etc…
If any of this rings true to you, you’re ready for a ‘retread’! Let me know if I can help you through the process – you’ll be so glad you did!
