Doesn’t it seem like yearly resolutions can quickly overwhelm us? By week three we’re already making excuses! Sometimes it’s the ‘baby-steps’ that will give us the encouragement we need to make the bigger changes we had in mind, so I’ve put together a few quick-start wardrobe tips for you so you can start to feel a sense of accomplishment right away.
#1 Shoes That Sparkle: I’m not talking rhinestones here, although I do love a sparkly evening shoe. I’m talking about one thing that women are notoriously bad about when it comes to closet maintenance and it’s something that can give your wardrobe an instant boost – shoe care. Yes, gals, our shoes need polishing too! Not only will polish bring the leather back to life (I just did it with my boots, and what a difference!) it will help preserve it as well.
Don’t forget to assess your soles and heels and get those replaced if necessary. (There are even shops that can replace the scuffed red soles – if you happen to wear that particular brand – with a matching red leather that won’t wear off! In our area, Anthony’s in San Francisco is the place to go.)
Regular care of your shoes not only extends their life but adds to your ‘bottom line’ when it comes to your overall impression. If your shoes are beyond this sort of update, that’s a pretty good sign it’s time to replace them. Shoes speak volumes about a person and are an easy way to update and add ‘polish’ (if you’ll excuse the expression) to your appearance.
There – baby-step #1 to kick-start the year!
