You may be the best speaker in the world (alas, we just lost one of the all-time greats in Zig Ziglar) but it won’t matter how well you have prepared what you’re saying if your appearance distracts your audience or sends a different message visually from what you’re saying verbally. I came across this checklist to use when planning what you’re going to wear for your presentation. Some are pretty obvious – like wear what fits – but honestly, haven’t you seen speakers or announcers on television that wore ill-fitting clothing? And didn’t it distract you and/or in fact, diminish their credibility? Don’t let it happen to you – make sure your visual supports your verbal!
