…to develop a sense of style. Case in point: lovely 10-year-old Emma, spotted at St. Charles Church a couple of Sundays ago. I saw her from the back, and after watching her for a few minutes, immediately knew that this was a young lady who was already well into developing her personal style.
How could I tell? First of all, she seemed to be enjoying what she was wearing, i.e. her parents, or grandparents in this case, obviously didn’t force her to wear the outfit. She was joyful in her appearance, without being overly proud of herself.
Secondly, when I got a closer look at the entire outfit after services, it was clear she added her own personal touch to a very feminine outfit with her black boots. Truly, Kate Moss couldn’t have done it better!
Lastly, she was very happy to ‘strike a pose’ for me for the photo. I love seeing a young lady who is enthusiastic, confident and yet modest at the same time. She wore an outfit that was completely appropriate for the occasion (her aunt and uncle’s 50th wedding anniversary celebration) and the locale (church), and yet it expressed her style and individuality. Good job, Emma! Look out, 6th grade, here she comes!
