Skirts are such a natural for spring and summer, don’t you think? For one thing, you can dress them up or down very easily, wear them with or without stockings (depending on the length, your age and the state of your lovely stems), and now, thank goodness, you can find them in a wide range of shapes, colors and lengths.
Try shorter length skirts with textured hosiery – especially nude fishnets, like these DKNY at Nordstrom. The nude color blends with your skin, yet provides that “just right” minimal coverage.
Pencil skirts are all the rage now – you can find them a variety of patterns, textures (including lace) and colors. Maybe you’ll want to try one with a little interest at the hem or try it with a belt to highlight the waist.
Add some curves (or emphasize your own) with a peplum accent at the waist. Keep the top slim and fitted so that you’re not overwhelmed with fabric. The peplum trend will likely come and go quickly, so don’t spend a lot of your fashion dollars on this one.
Whether you go long or short or somewhere in-between, skirts are a great way to express yourself. Make sure they’ve got great lines and aren’t too loosely fit, especially in the longer lengths.
